What are we about?

Cal Poly Combat Robotics serves a unique purpose within the Cal Poly Robotics Club. We welcome anyone who wants to learn a little bit of everything when it comes to robotics. We teach the basics of radio control hardware and software, mechanical design philosophies, and CAD design through applied robotics competitions.

Weight Classes

Fairyweight (150g) Class

Fairyweights are a technical challenge that limits the weight to only 150 grams. These little bots are officially supported by the RCL (Robot Combat League) and have many external events hosted. These are used as learning platforms for new members to create their first bot!

Antweight (453g/1lb) Class

The standard competitior size for battlebot competitions around the world. We have 2 seperate competitive antweight robot team projects that travel to outside competitions. These are developed each year by our members as the main focus of Cal Poly Combat Robotics!

Beetleweight (3lb) Class

We are currently working towards funding a 3lb robot to be develoepd and sent to the famous NHRL robot combat event! We will post updates on the status of our Beetleweight endeavors!

Battlebot (250lb) Class

While not necessarily related to the Cal Poly Robotics Club, Cal Poly hosts a senior project focused on a 250lb Battlebot. They plan on competing at the Las Vegas Proving grounds and hopefully showing up on the show!
