Mech Warfare
The objective is simple – build a robot, take over the world. Wait, we meant take over the competition.
Mech Warfare is robotics competition where mech-style (legged) robots, armed with air-soft BB launchers, battle for dominance amidst a scale city scape. We are working to build a new, remote controlled, crab-like robot inspired by previous Cal Poly designs.
The Cal Poly Mech Warfare team competed at Robogames 2018 and Maker Faire 2019 in the Mech Warfare competition in which robots battle each other with airsoft guns. The Cal Poly team was noted for developing a unique and efficient walking mechanism distinct from other walking robots.
At Robogames 2018, the team won first place out of the university teams, fourth place below three teams consisting of professional engineers. At Maker Faire 2019, the original robot had electronics problems before competition, so a backup robot was used which was less successful. This year, the goal is to refine and improve the robot, as well as extensively test it. This year’s agenda also includes pilot training and practice for competition
